Gyeongnam Province Holds Meeting with Nuriho Development Key Figures and Aviation Industry Support Gyeongsangnam-do is holding a meeting on the 28th with Nuriho development partner companies in the province to discuss support for the aerospace industry.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 28th, Gyeongsangnam-do held a corporate meeting to encourage local aerospace company officials who participated in the development of Nuriho and to discuss plans for fostering the space industry in Gyeongnam.

The meeting was attended by officials from 10 local companies including Korea Aerospace Industries and Hanwha Aerospace, which played key roles in the development of Nuriho, as well as three institutions including the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, which oversaw the overall development of Nuriho, and the Korea Testing Laboratory, a specialized space environment testing organization.

The meeting proceeded in the order of a presentation on the current status of Nuriho development by an official from the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, an explanation of the participation status of local companies in Nuriho development, and discussions on fostering the space industry and support measures for companies in the province.

More than 300 domestic companies participated in this Nuriho development, and companies located in Gyeongnam played important roles in most of the core fields, proving the capabilities of Gyeongnam aerospace companies.

Korea Aerospace Industries, based on excellent technology and advanced facilities, was responsible for the system integration of Nuriho and the production of fuel tanks and oxidizer tanks, while Hanwha Aerospace took charge of the overall production of the engine, considered the core of the launch vehicle, as well as the development of piping assemblies and actuator systems.

Kap Micro and Ureatech produced ground control systems and test equipment, and Doowon Heavy Industries and SNK Aviation participated in the development and production of tanks and fuselage fields. Korea Fiber manufactured about 30% of the entire fuselage of Nuriho using carbon composite materials.

GV Engineering contributed its technology in the field of fire safety through thermal control, and EM Korea manufactured and supplied test stands among the test facilities.

NDT Engineering is participating in the government’s Space Pioneer project and is leading the development of propulsion tanks for small launch vehicles.

From system integration to engines, structures, electronic devices, and test facilities, the technology of Gyeongnam aerospace companies has been incorporated into all fields of satellite, launch vehicle, and material development.

Park Jong-won, Deputy Governor for Economy of the province, said, "We will do our best to grow Gyeongnam into a center of the space industry in cooperation with central government ministries," and urged, "Companies and institutions participating in today’s meeting should also work together."

Meanwhile, Gyeongsangnam-do conducted a 'Basic Plan for the Creation of the Gyeongnam Space Industry Cluster' project this year, and plans to further implement a detailed plan project next year, actively linking with central government ministries to make the space industry promotion strategy more concrete.
