KEPCO to Host Big Expo on 10th Next Month... Showcasing 'Carbon Neutral' Technologies at a Glance

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) announced on the 28th that it will simultaneously hold the 'Bitgaram International Electric Power Technology Expo (BIXPO) 2021,' showcasing future technologies in the energy sector, both online and offline from the 10th to the 12th of next month.

The event will be held at the Gwangju Kim Dae-jung Convention Center, with 248 companies participating, including Nokia, Dell, General Electric (GE), Hyosung Heavy Industries, Hyundai Electric, KT, and SKT.

Now in its 7th year, BIXPO 2021 will present future new technologies and industrial directions in the energy sector, focusing on renewable energy and efficiency under the global key theme of 'carbon neutrality.' Through hosting BIXPO, KEPCO aims to provide an opportunity for the industry to share the latest energy technologies and expand exchanges and collaborations among leading domestic and international companies.

The keynote speeches, centered on 'carbon neutrality,' will be delivered by Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), and Angela Wilkinson, Secretary-General of the World Energy Council (WEC).

At this event, KEPCO President Jeong Seung-il will make the first public declaration of KEPCO's 2050 carbon neutrality vision and personally explain its significance. The plan is to lead decarbonization in the power supply system through comprehensive innovation, actively supporting other sectors such as industry, transportation, and buildings to contribute to achieving national carbon neutrality.

The new technology exhibition will showcase KEPCO's key technologies and policies addressing the climate crisis for greenhouse gas reduction through immersive content such as smart tables and future vision videos. The exhibition hall will be divided into sections including the Power Grid Pavilion, Energy Platform Pavilion, Climate Crisis Experience Pavilion, and New Technology Experience Pavilion.

An international conference will also be held. At the Energy Leaders Summit (ELS), BIXPO's flagship conference, experts from international energy organizations such as the World Energy Council (WEC), International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and International Energy Agency (IEA) will share global trends toward 2050 carbon neutrality and deliver meaningful messages regarding responsibilities and practical measures by countries to achieve carbon neutrality.

Additionally, various side events such as the International Invention and Patent Exhibition and the Energy Valley Job Fair will take place. Visitors who find it difficult to attend the exhibition in person can also participate in various events online.
