[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, in collaboration with the Gwangju Metropolitan City Labor-Management-Government-Civil Council, is receiving positive responses for providing psychological counseling support to essential workers in apartment complexes who are struggling due to COVID-19.
Seo-gu announced on the 28th that from the 12th to the 25th, a total of six sessions (30 people) of psychological counseling were conducted at Dongcheon Village 1st Complex Apartment and Ssangchon Jugong Apartment.
Essential workers refer to those performing face-to-face tasks in fields such as medical care, caregiving, and logistics to maintain the life, safety, and social functions of the public, whose importance and attention have increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Apartment complex workers face a higher risk of infection due to the increased time residents spend at home, are continuously exposed to stress from increased workloads, and often suffer difficulties from COVID blues as they cannot find solutions on their own and are left unattended.
The Labor-Management-Government-Civil Council promoted psychological counseling where professional counselors visit apartment complexes directly to conduct one-on-one personal counseling, identifying various stresses from work processes and emotional difficulties arising in personal life, and suggesting solutions.
A representative of the Labor-Management-Government-Civil Council said, “We hope that apartment complex workers, who quietly do their best despite the risk of COVID infection, can heal their exhausted emotions through psychological counseling.”
