Joint Project with UK Design Media 'Dijin'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG Display announced on the 28th that it will hold the 2nd Global OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) Design Contest in collaboration with the UK design media 'Dezeen'.
The theme of the contest is "OLED Design that Provides New Experiences and Values." Considering the changing lifestyles of modern people, anyone aged 18 or older with new ideas that can make life more convenient using OLED and transparent OLED from the 20-inch to 50-inch range can participate.
The application period is from the 27th (UK local time) until December 20th, and applications can be submitted through the Dezeen website. LG Display, together with Dezeen, will comprehensively evaluate the originality, design aesthetics, usefulness, lifestyle improvement, and technical feasibility of the design works and announce the winners in May next year.
Prizes totaling 88,000 euros (approximately 130 million KRW) will be awarded to the top five works, with 35,000 euros (about 50 million KRW) for first place, 20,000 euros (about 30 million KRW) for second place, and 15,000 euros (about 20 million KRW) for third place. The winning works will be carefully reviewed for commercialization potential and market prospects and will be linked to product development and fostered as new business ventures.
