[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] On the afternoon of the 27th, Gyeongnam Province held the 2021 Gyeongnam Regional Problem-Solving Platform Performance Sharing Meeting concurrently online and offline at the Changwon Convention Center.
This year's performance sharing meeting was named ‘it. Sumida’. It carries a double meaning that solving regional problems is gradually permeating the region through collaboration, and the Regional Problem-Solving Platform plays a pivotal role in connecting the private sector, government, and public institutions to address new social issues.
Ha Byung-pil, Acting Governor of Gyeongnam Province and co-representative of the Gyeongnam Regional Problem-Solving Platform, said in his opening remarks, “I hope everyone will join forces to further expand and sustain the platform where the public and private sectors cooperate,” adding, “The province will do its best to broaden residents’ participation and collaboration opportunities through the Gyeongnam Regional Problem-Solving Platform and to solve problems and implement policies.”
The event began with an introduction of the 2021 matching agendas in the form of a youth play performed by local young people. In the Gyeongnam Regional Problem-Solving Platform dialogue ‘Jaegiballal.Gyeongnam’, moderated by Information Ju, co-representative of the platform, discussants included Yoon Nan-sil, Secretary for Institutional Reform at the Blue House, Ok Se-jin, Head of the Provincial Social Innovation Promotion Team, and Hong Jun-pyo, Head of LH Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters. They put their heads together to discuss the platform’s new vision and new methods for solving regional problems.
Yoon Nan-sil, Secretary for Institutional Reform at the Blue House, said, “The Gyeongnam Regional Problem-Solving Platform has quickly and surely permeated local residents thanks to the passion of the residents and the efforts of the secretariat,” and urged, “Do not lose the attitude of continuous communication and cooperation to respond to rapidly changing social and natural environments and the diverse demands of residents.”
Since its launch in 2019, the platform has discovered 664 agendas with over 3,000 residents and matched and executed 63 agendas with 87 promotion committee institutions. This year, the Gyeongnam Regional Problem-Solving Platform reviewed 97 out of 346 proposals and matched 24 agendas including the village textbook and job creation projects for migrant women.
Meanwhile, the Gyeongnam Regional Problem-Solving Platform is leading efforts to find customized solutions to regional problems by building a regional innovation network with 87 institutions participating in the promotion committee and 17 cities and counties, aiming to bring changes to local communities and residents’ lives.
