Gyeonggi Office of Education to Conduct Sexual Harassment and Violence 'Prevention Education' on 27th

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education conducted sexual harassment and sexual violence prevention education on the 27th.

The Gyeonggi Office of Education announced that on this day, it held a "Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Prevention Education for Managers" at the Suwon Southern Office for managers at the level of department head or higher from the Southern and Northern Offices, as well as counselors for sexual harassment and sexual violence grievances.

The education was conducted under the theme "For a Society Where Everyone is Prepared," with a lecture given by Lee Mi-young, director of the Korea Sexual Rights Education Center.

Director Lee Mi-young emphasized, "We must recognize discrimination and imbalance in daily life caused by gender differences, and further strengthen gender sensitivity based on awareness of gender equality, willingness to practice it, and gender perspective." She added, "A healthy organizational culture where both men and women in the organization are respected as equal individuals can create a gender-equal society."

She also stated, "Sex-related crimes are human rights issues beyond just sexual problems," and added, "This is a time when mature responsibility is required from each individual through awareness of managerial roles as well as strengthening gender sensitivity."

Gyeonggi Superintendent of Education Lee Jae-jung promised, "We will strive to create a clear and beautiful workplace atmosphere by fostering a culture of mutual respect in a horizontal position beyond the framework of 'female' or 'male' gender, especially by managers forming an organizational culture of respect for each other."
