Proposing Strategies to Strengthen Community-Led Health Management Capacities in Health-Vulnerable Areas
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 28th that it held an explanatory meeting and report session for the resident-led health promotion project in health-vulnerable areas called ‘Health Plus Happiness Plus’ on the 27th at the Naedong-myeon Office meeting room.
About 40 people, including members of the Naedong-myeon Health Committee, local residents, and public health center officials, attended the report session to discuss the understanding and direction of the project. The results of the community health survey conducted in Naedong-myeon in July were also reported.
Professor Kang Yoon-sik from the Gyeongnam Integrated Health Promotion Project Support Group explained the project and presented ways for local residents to become the main agents of health management and strengthen their capabilities. He also reported on the characteristics of the target population and the results of the health survey by category.
This report is expected to be used as basic data to enable residents to solve problems on their own and to set strategies for community health projects based on the community health survey results.
The health survey identified the most urgent health issues as lack of physical activity and exercise, smoking, poor dietary habits, low health screening rates, and hypertension management.
The city public health center stated that it will promote the Health Plus Happiness Plus project targeting Naedong-myeon residents over the next five years and will do its best to reduce health inequalities.
