[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 28th that it will promote outdoor chrysanthemum viewing around the Geochang Incident Memorial Park until November 7.
This event, held in place of the 14th Chrysanthemum Exhibition, created a memorial park with about 200,000 chrysanthemums produced in-house since spring, including a 300m large chrysanthemum flower maze, a 2km flower path, a 3,000㎡ chrysanthemum hill, and about 150 bonsai chrysanthemums, instead of the usual small models.
Last weekend, about a thousand visitors came to remember and visit the former chrysanthemum exhibition. Especially this year marks the 70th anniversary of the Geochang Incident, providing an opportunity to raise awareness of the incident with an exhibition of Geochang Incident records and newly produced video materials.
Jo Jeong-sun, head of the Geochang Incident Office, said, “We hope that visitors coming to see the chrysanthemums will honor the souls of the victims of the Geochang Incident through the autumn atmosphere and the fragrant scent of chrysanthemums, and have a time to heal their minds and bodies tired from COVID-19. We ask that visitors comply with COVID-19 prevention guidelines during their visit.”
