Hwang Inhong, Muju County Governor, "We Will Promote Customized Urban Regeneration Projects!"

[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Hwang In-hong, the governor of Muju County, announced a differentiated Muju-type urban regeneration project concept for mid- to long-term regeneration projects by establishing home repair guidelines that apply renewable energy facilities and high-efficiency energy devices.

Governor Hwang emphasized at the provincial urban regeneration policy forum held on the 27th in Changwon Marine New City, “Future policies should establish small-city type urban regeneration policies to sustain urban regeneration in small cities, preserving the identity of the region and promoting region-customized urban regeneration projects tailored to the unique characteristics of each area.”

Governor Hwang explained, “Local cities will regain vitality and be able to build and reorganize necessary infrastructure on their own. For households unable to carry out home repairs due to the hassle and difficulty of bearing self-pay costs, the county is preparing its own support basis and reviewing plans for local government funding and securing other resources.”

He particularly declared, while explaining the regeneration projects currently underway in Muju, “We are planning a mid- to long-term plan for aging residential areas to create a healthy living environment for the realization of a healthy city Muju.”

He also expressed the intention to proceed with customized home repair consulting tailored to residents’ characteristics, including anti-slip tile construction and threshold removal work to facilitate mobility for the elderly.

Meanwhile, at this forum for sharing the current status and achievements of the Urban Regeneration New Deal project and public discussion of the Urban Regeneration 4.0 policy agenda, opinions were raised on the urgent need to establish an urban regeneration policy network that supports solving local community problems in a complex manner based on basic metropolitan local governments, resident communities, and autonomous civic groups, to establish comprehensive urban regeneration participation and support plans across various fields, and to develop comprehensive provincial urban regeneration policy linkage plans connecting basic, central, and metropolitan councils.
