Kim Ki-hyun: "President Moon and Lee Jae-myung Meeting, Implicit Order from Investigation Agencies to 'Not Interfere'"

Daejangdong Prosecution Investigation, "It's Not an Investigation but a 'Investigation Show'"

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Kim Ki-hyun, the floor leader of the People Power Party, criticized the 'Blue House meeting' between President Moon Jae-in and Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, held the previous day, saying it was "an implicit order to 'not let investigative agencies get involved at all'" and called it a "very wrong meeting."

On the 27th, Kim appeared on KBS Radio's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strongest Current Affairs' and said, "Candidate Lee Jae-myung is at the very center of the real estate development corruption allegations that the public is absolutely furious about, and he himself said he planned it, so he is in a position to take responsibility."

Kim added, "Candidate Lee has become a subject of accusation and is under investigation," emphasizing, "For the president to meet with an accused person under investigation, offer words of encouragement, and give strength is an implicit order to the investigative agencies to not get involved."

Regarding the Blue House receiving an authoritative interpretation from the National Election Commission that "discussions related to livelihood issues are not problematic," he also called it a "meaningless and forced sophistry."

Kim criticized, "The National Election Commission cannot interpret this because it is a criminal investigation; what does the National Election Commission have to do with it?" He continued, "The president meeting the main figure of the real estate development corruption, which is the biggest corruption since the founding of Korea, who is currently the target of national outrage, and implicitly ordering 'do not get involved' does not mean the National Election Commission can grant immunity," calling it a "forced explanation."

Regarding the current Daejang-dong prosecution investigation, he mocked, "They are not conducting an investigation but putting on an investigation show."

He said, "We often use the expression 'cutting off the tail,' but watching the prosecution's investigation of the Daejang-dong case, it's not cutting off the tail but 'plucking the tail's feathers.'"

He continued, "They did not properly conduct the investigation, only put on a show by requesting a warrant, which was then dismissed by the court, so the investigation does not proceed well. After some time passes, it will just be swept under the rug, and meanwhile, they might be teaching how to quickly destroy evidence," adding, "As someone with a legal background and decades of experience as a legal professional, this is the first time I have seen such an investigation."
