[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea's presidential candidate, expressed his condolences on the passing of former President Roh Tae-woo on the 26th.

On the afternoon of the 26th, Lee posted on Facebook, "I express my deep condolences," and stated, "Former President Roh left both light and shadow in our modern history."

He wrote, "It is commendable that the deceased's children have apologized and paid respects multiple times to the May 18 martyrs," and added, "I sincerely pray for the repose of the deceased's soul."

Lee's statement regarding former President Roh's passing was posted at 9 p.m. that day. Earlier, after visiting Seongnam Medical Center in Gyeonggi Province that afternoon, when asked by reporters about former President Roh's death, Lee avoided a direct answer, saying, "I will consult with the campaign."
