Online Metropolitan Transportation Training in Seoul for El Salvador Ministry of Transportation Officials in Cooperation with KOICA

El Salvador Ministry of Transportation MZ Generation Officials Receive Seoul Metropolitan Transportation Policy Know-How

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] From the 28th of this month to the 6th of next month, Seoul Metropolitan Government will jointly conduct an online capacity-building training with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for 10 days to improve the metropolitan transportation system of El Salvador.

This online training is part of a "government ministry proposed project," where KOICA secures the budget for ODA projects proposed by government agencies. It is a project that Seoul and KOICA have devoted several years to in order to introduce Seoul's excellent transportation policies to the Latin American market.

The training, conducted over 10 days for 22 mid-level managers and practitioners from El Salvador's Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and Housing (MOPT), will involve organic cooperation between Seoul city and related organizations to vividly convey Seoul's world-class experience and know-how in transportation policy formulation to El Salvadoran officials.

Most of the El Salvador government officials participating in this training are young and talented MZ generation members, promising next-generation leaders who will lead local transportation policies. Seoul plans to nurture pro-Seoul talents and contribute to widely promoting the status of Seoul as an advanced transportation city in the Latin American region by sharing excellent policy best practices such as Seoul's ▲Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), ▲Metropolitan Transportation Information Center, ▲public transportation, ▲traffic safety, and ▲traffic signals.

Jonathan Hosue, a section chief at El Salvador's Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and Housing participating in this training, expressed his expectations by saying, "I hope this training will be an opportunity to solve the chronic traffic problems that the El Salvador government has been struggling with by learning Seoul's excellent transportation policies." Yoon Jong-jang, Director of Citizen Communication Planning at Seoul Metropolitan Government, said, "Seoul's city brand is closely linked to the overall national image of our country, so I hope that Seoul's unique development experience will be utilized as important development content to solve overseas urban problems, thereby enhancing the value of Seoul's city brand and playing a positive role as a win-win city diplomacy tool supporting private companies' overseas expansion."
