Nexon's new title, 'Blue Archive,' is set to target domestic users next month.
According to Nexon on the 27th, Blue Archive is a subculture game that tells stories of various academies and clubs, developed by renowned producer Kim Yong-ha and MX Studio. Subculture games refer to games featuring content such as anime characters, catering to a small but passionate fanbase.
Producer Kim participated in the development of Nexon's flagship games like 'Mabinogi' and 'Mabinogi Heroes,' and Blue Archive is a new title born from his extensive development experience and subculture development philosophy. In 2014, his presentation 'Moeron' at the Nexon Developer Conference (NDC) resonated among subculture users, and the game he directly planned, 'Curare: Magic Library,' has been loved for a long time.
Blue Archive is also highly anticipated by domestic and global subculture genre game users. It gathered 500,000 pre-registrations in just one day. It is also sailing smoothly, receiving favorable reviews in Japan, the birthplace of subculture games. After its release in Japan last February, it ranked first in popularity on the two major markets and secured a top position in sales.
User-generated secondary creations are also active. Nearly 20,000 creations have been produced within nine months on the illustration creation community 'Pixiv,' solidifying its position in the Japanese market. A Nexon official said, "It is a 'true subculture' game combining school life and military elements rarely seen in Korea," adding, "You can experience the youthful fantasies of beautiful girls."
