Geochang-gun Achieves 70% Vaccination Completion Rate, Preparing for Daily Life Recovery

Geochang-gun Achieves 70% Vaccination Completion Rate, Preparing for Daily Life Recovery Geochang County Office building.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 26th that as the COVID-19 vaccination completion rate approaches 80% by the end of this month, it is actively preparing for a 'With Corona' recovery to normal life.

According to Geochang-gun, as of 6 p.m. on the 23rd, among the 61,245 residents, 47,520 (77.6%) have completed the first dose, and 42,984 (70.2%) have completed the second dose.

By the end of October, considering those who have made vaccination reservations, the completion rate is expected to rise to 77%. The county has already exceeded the government's vaccination target rate of 70% by the end of October through shortening the interval for the second dose by target groups and continuously guiding unvaccinated individuals to get vaccinated.

In particular, vaccination efforts were expanded to include unregistered foreigners to increase COVID-19 vaccination coverage. Since the 18th, vaccination for children and adolescents aged 16-17 and pregnant women has been in full swing, with 56% of the target group having made reservations, and those aged 12-15 showing a 30% reservation rate.

Additionally, starting in November, booster vaccinations will be administered to those aged 60 and over who completed their first and second doses more than six months ago, high-risk groups, immunocompromised individuals, workers and residents of nursing hospitals and nursing facilities, and medical staff at hospital-level or higher medical institutions.

County Governor Goo In-mo said, "Thanks to the active cooperation of the residents, we were able to achieve a 70% second-dose vaccination rate," adding, "Vaccination is the only solution and hope for phased recovery of daily life and overcoming COVID-19."
