[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The 'Namusori Seogak Research Association,' actively operating around Sancheong, Gyeongnam at the foot of Jirisan Mountain, is holding a members' exhibition to welcome autumn.
The Namusori Seogak Research Association announced on the 26th that it will hold its 11th Letter Carving Exhibition from the 28th of this month to November 1st at the 'Sunijin-i Gallery' in Namsa Yedamchon, Danseong-myeon, Sancheong-gun.
This exhibition is being held with the support of the Sancheong-gun Cultural Arts Promotion Fund. The county is making efforts to promote the beauty of seogak (wood carving) to local residents and tourists visiting Sancheong, while also encouraging artists' creative motivation.
The exhibition will feature 45 seogak works that the association members have learned and practiced over the past year. The Namusori Seogak Research Association has about 30 members, including President Choi Horim and seogak master Udam Guseongbon.
In particular, Soheon Gu Ji-ha is actively engaged not only in seogak research and creative activities but also as an instructor in lifelong education programs related to seogak.
Choi Horim, president of the Namusori Seogak Research Association, said, "Our Namusori Seogak Research Association holds exhibitions every year showcasing members' works at places like Donguibogam Village," adding, "Once the with-COVID conditions are established, we want to prepare exhibitions that the whole family can enjoy and share the traditional beauty of seogak with many people."
Meanwhile, Soheon Gu Ji-ha, who operates the Namusori Seogak Research Association, is the successor of her father, seogak master Udam Guseongbon. Recently, Master Udam has been actively working around Sancheong, carving signboards such as 'Donguimun (Main Gate)' and 'Bogammun (Rear Gate),' the entrance and exit gates of Donguibogam Village in Sancheong.
The 'Sunijin-i Gallery,' where the exhibition is held, is an exhibition space operated by Park Young-jin, CEO of Pulkkotnuri, who runs a traditional natural dyeing workshop in Sancheong.
