[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Universities are competing to sign industry-academia cooperation agreements with companies to create jobs and facilitate technology exchange.

These agreements accumulate as ‘industry-academia cooperation’ achievements, showing a mutually beneficial path for both universities and companies.

While companies respond according to their circumstances to universities hoping for jobs for their graduates, it is often the case that companies do not get what they expect from universities.

To solve these difficulties, Dongmyung University is actively building a culture of industry-academia cooperation.

The professor in charge of the industry-academia cooperation team acts as a ‘field commander’ who visits industrial sites.

Dongmyung University’s LINC+ Project Group is upgrading its industry-academia cooperation version to ‘LINC3.0’.

Professor Shin Dong-seok, the head of the group, has jumped into gathering opinions to set the direction for LINC3.0. He is leading a job creation cooperation project for mutual growth between universities and companies.

On the 25th, the Dongmyung University Excellent Family Company Visit Project began. Starting with Youngpoong Industry on that day, it will be conducted intensively for about two months until the end of November.

At the visit to Youngpoong Industry located in Hwajeon Industrial Complex, Gangseo-gu, Busan, Head Shin inspected the research and development status of underwater drones.

They listened to economic conditions and field difficulties caused by COVID-19 and discussed various cooperation plans regarding solutions the university can provide.

Youngpoong Industry is a company that has excellent technology in the underwater drone field and generates sales through industry-academia cooperation such as research and development with Dongmyung University’s LINC+ Project Group.

Head Shin Dong-seok said, “I came to support our family companies doing their best amid the difficulties of COVID-19 and to listen to the hardships on site,” adding, “We will prepare support measures that can actually help by reflecting the field in the LINC3.0 project plan.”

Dongmyung University’s industry-academia cooperation team’s on-site relay visit project is signaling a ‘version up’ that shares the ‘real benefits’ of industry and academia.
