Wanju-gun, Leading City for Purchasing Products Made by Severely Disabled Persons

The Only Recipient of the Minister of Health and Welfare Award at the National County (Gun) Level

[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Wanju County announced on the 26th that it was selected as an excellent institution in the purchasing sector of the 2021 Priority Purchase of Products Produced by Persons with Severe Disabilities, hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

The award for institutions excelling in the priority purchase of products produced by persons with severe disabilities is a meaningful prize given to organizations that had outstanding performance in the previous year's priority purchase or contributed to promoting purchases.

Wanju County is the only county-level unit nationwide to receive the Ministerial Award.

Starting from 1.11% in 2019, Wanju County achieved 2.34% in 2020, and as of September this year, reached 3.02%, showing steady growth in purchase performance year by year.

This result was achieved through the cooperation of all departments and institutions under its jurisdiction to promote the priority purchase of products produced by persons with severe disabilities, surpassing the 2021 target of 1% by achieving over 3%.

Park Seong-il, Wanju County Governor, said, “In the difficult situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is not easy for persons with disabilities to become independent, but we will do our utmost to support the priority purchase of products from vocational rehabilitation facilities employing persons with disabilities so that they can maintain a stable life through their professional activities.”
