Saltlux Launches AI Training Platform for Autonomous Driving

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] AI company Saltlux announced on the 26th that it will launch an AI platform capable of building and training ultra-large-scale data for next-generation autonomous vehicles, in collaboration with its subsidiary Gwangju Artificial Intelligence Center. Based on this, it plans to build 3D urban video data of Korean cities, vehicle interior and exterior situation recognition data, and develop AI models.

The autonomous driving AI training platform developed by Saltlux can recognize various urban environments and user behaviors inside vehicles to collect large-scale data and convert it into a form that AI can learn from. It also provides an optimized sourcing environment for crowd workers who perform data refinement and processing. This innovative platform integrates functions such as quality evaluation of data through training, autonomous driving models, and prediction into one.

Centered on this, ultra-large-scale LiDAR data of buildings, roads, and auxiliary facilities in Korean urban areas collected via aircraft and vehicles will be constructed into 3D video data. Additionally, various data necessary for AI model development, such as detecting abnormal driver behavior, will be collected, processed, and quality assured. The data will be publicly available to the private sector through the National Information Society Agency (NIA), and it is expected to be widely used not only for establishing infrastructure for high-precision driving of next-generation autonomous vehicles but also for implementing virtual spaces such as digital twins and the metaverse. It is also anticipated to activate the development of application services such as smart cultural tourism and navigation for vulnerable pedestrians.

Kim Jung-tae, head of Saltlux overseeing the project, said, “I am confident that the importance of the platform provided by Saltlux will continue to grow for the development of next-generation autonomous vehicles and the establishment of intelligent urban systems, and this data construction and AI model have verified that.” He added, “We will strive to significantly contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the autonomous driving industry and the early establishment of smart cities.”

Meanwhile, Saltlux is a leading domestic AI company that has shown annual growth of over 20% in the industry for the past five years, uniquely among its peers.
