Jomina "Atelier Operation Controversy, I Explained 'No', But No One Listened... I Just Thought I Had to Endure"
[Asia Economy Online Issue Team] Singer and actress Jo Min-ah opened up about stories related to herself, from past bakery controversies to receiving a terminal diagnosis.
Jo Min-ah appeared as a guest on SBS Plus's 'Love Master' broadcast on the night of the 25th, marking her first TV appearance in eight years. She talked with the MCs and fortune teller Park Sung-joon based on her saju (Korean four pillars of destiny).
Having recently given birth, Jo Min-ah attracted attention by visiting the studio with her husband and son. Her concern was, "I feel like I will never be able to rest in my life. When will I be able to rest?"
Park Sung-joon commented on Jo Min-ah's saju, saying, "You have a tendency to get sick if you don't keep moving." Jo Min-ah said, "So far, I have obtained 23 certifications including yoga, face yoga, prenatal yoga, rehabilitation massage international certification, baking and pastry, and real estate agent license."
She added, "Before giving birth, to quickly catch my child's language development, I also earned certifications as a baby planner and children's cooking instructor." Jo Min-ah's husband shared, "I have a feeling of respect for my wife. On the other hand, I worry that if she keeps pushing herself while being sick, she might collapse."
When Park Sung-joon mentioned, "A major scandal and chaotic bad luck came again between 2015 and 2018," Jo Min-ah also talked about the controversy she faced while running an atelier in the past. She said, "I had a hobby in baking for nearly 10 years and obtained a technician certificate. I thought I would try something I liked for a long time, so I opened an atelier."
She continued, "Since it was my first business, I was very unprepared in handling things. It was really tough." Jo Min-ah explained, "A part-time worker who worked with me put a 500 won coin in the oven along with the bread to fix the parchment paper. That was posted on the part-timer's own SNS and spread, but it was made to look like I did it. At first, I tried to explain that it wasn't true, but no one listened. There were 500 reports filed with the health department."
She added, "There were numerous controversies. I tried saying 'No, that's not true,' and even got angry at people, but I just thought I had to endure it here."
Then Park Sung-joon advised, "This is a fate that can break your health. Since you give yourself excessive heat, you probably had many health problems. If the fire element is strong, the heart, blood vessels, and eyes can be weak."
Jo Min-ah revealed, "Because I was so obsessed with work, I developed an autoimmune disease. It is a vascular-related illness, and due to poor blood circulation, I kept collapsing and losing my memory. After that, I went to the hospital several times and was given a one-year prognosis," drawing attention.
She continued, "At first, I denied it. I thought, 'I worked hard, so why did this happen to me?' But looking back, I realized I caused it myself. At first, I thought it was a lie and ignored it, working six more months. Then I collapsed and almost missed the golden time." She added, "I completely stopped everything and rested. I closed the store. I cried a lot."
The cast expressed concern and curiosity about Jo Min-ah's health after childbirth. Jo Min-ah said, "Giving birth was not a problem, but the postpartum period was. I developed postpartum wind syndrome and collapsed due to benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Since I am breastfeeding, I have not been able to receive treatment yet." She shared her wish, "In the past, I thought I had no regrets even if I died anytime, but now I want to live healthily even for one day. I want to be healthy."
