Gwangju Nam-gu Council, Special Lecture on Manifesto Implementation Measures

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jin-Hyung Park] The Nam-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chairman Hee-Yul Park) held a special lecture on the 25th in the council's small conference room, inviting Kwang-Jae Lee, Secretary General of the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters, with council members and public officials from the council secretariat in attendance.

The special lecture was conducted under the theme of ‘Implementation Plans for Local Council Manifestos.’

Secretary General Lee presented opinions on how to connect the challenges we face during the ‘Great Transition Period’?such as advances in labor-saving technology, an aging South Korea, and climate and environmental changes?into election pledges and the ways to do so.

He emphasized the necessity of policy preparation for the restructuring of economic and industrial sectors including jobs and the increased life expectancy, stating, “If ESG evaluations are not passed, export routes may be blocked in the future,” highlighting the need to respond to climate change and to establish policies at the local council level.

He also introduced implementation plans and best practices for election pledges, saying, “There is a demand for the development of election pledges that include value-centered lifestyle policies with philosophy.”

Hee-Yul Park, Chairman of the Nam-gu Council, said, “We organized this special lecture to review how well we are keeping and fulfilling our promises to residents and to ensure the smooth progress of pledged projects, which are promises made to the residents.”
