[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do, one of South Korea's four major tourist cities, announced on the 25th that its local tourism resources are being promoted globally through an online platform.


Mokpo tourism is introduced through the 'Korea Grand Sale Online Platform,' launched on the 7th by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization.


'Korea Grand Sale' is a shopping and cultural tourism festival held annually to attract overseas tourists during the low season for visits to Korea in January and February. Since visiting Korea has been difficult due to the spread of COVID-19, this year the event gathers and provides various information along with the latest shopping and cultural tourism content online.


The platform is organized and operated under six themes: Korea Grand Sale, Calendar, Trend Korea, Featured Location, Special Benefit, and Travel and Shopping.


In particular, 'Featured Location' is a regional hall introducing local shopping and cultural tourism, presenting tourist attractions and tourism products by region to encourage interest and visits. Among the eight nationwide attractions, Mokpo has two entries: 'The Roofless Museum, Modern and Contemporary Korean History Encountered in Mokpo' and 'Mokpo Travel That Shines More at Night.'


The platform operates year-round in four languages: Korean, English, Chinese (Simplified/Traditional), and Japanese, and can be accessed via PC and mobile devices.


A city official stated, "It is encouraging that Mokpo's representative tourism resources are introduced on the Korea Grand Sale online platform, which is strategically operated by the government.


This is a great opportunity to attract the attention of people worldwide. We will make every effort through active marketing to transform Mokpo into a global tourist city."
