[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Shinhan Bank announced on the 25th that it has signed a business agreement with the Ministry of Environment to spread and establish a nationwide culture of 'carbon-neutral lifestyle practice.'

The Ministry of Environment has signed business agreements with a total of 19 companies from various sectors such as distribution, manufacturing, telecommunications, and finance to participate in spreading carbon-neutral lifestyle practices, and Shinhan Bank was the only bank selected as a partner in the banking sector.

Carbon-neutral lifestyle practice refers to climate actions that households and businesses can implement in major areas of daily life to balance greenhouse gas emissions with the global absorption of carbon dioxide, preventing an increase in atmospheric CO2 concentration.

Examples include using high-efficiency electronic devices, taking stairs instead of elevators, and reducing disposable products.

The main contents of this business agreement include ▲education and promotion of carbon-neutral lifestyle practice guides ▲environmental improvements and infrastructure establishment for achieving 2050 carbon neutrality ▲operation of internal and external programs for carbon neutrality ▲continuous campaign promotion for realizing a 2050 carbon-neutral society.

Shinhan Bank declared its commitment to actively participate in the 2050 carbon-neutral lifestyle practice by forming a consensus with the Ministry of Environment and partner companies on the importance of practicing carbon neutrality and reducing carbon emissions through this agreement.

A Shinhan Bank official said, "We proceeded with this business agreement to actively participate in spreading a culture of practicing carbon neutrality in daily life," adding, "We will strive to help both employees and customers start practicing carbon neutrality by posting videos on carbon-neutral lifestyle rules on digital posters, ticket dispensers, and ATMs installed at branches and headquarters."
