Movie 'Extreme Job' Producer to Give Special Lecture at Mokwon University on the 27th

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The producer of the movie Extreme Job will visit Mokwon University to give a special lecture.

Mokwon University announced on the 25th that it will invite Kim Seong-hwan, CEO of About Film and producer of Extreme Job (photo), to give a special lecture on the theme of "Planning and Production Strategies for Movies and Dramas in the Era of Paid Online Video Services (OTT)" on the 27th.

Extreme Job is the second highest-grossing movie in box office history based on revenue. The special lecture will introduce students to the process of planning and producing Extreme Job by CEO Kim, followed by sharing blockbuster planning and development strategies.

This special lecture, organized as part of Mokwon University's culture and arts-based industry-academia-research linkage special lecture program, is open not only to Mokwon University students but also to aspiring filmmakers interested in movie production.

However, for external participants, attendance is only possible through live streaming via MS Teams (an online lecture program) to prevent COVID-19.

The Teams code can be obtained through the Office of the Department of Theater, Film, and Video at Mokwon University. Along with the special lecture, CEO Kim will also conduct a "Short Film Clinic," providing advice as a professional film producer.

Park Cheol-ung, head of the Department of Theater, Film, and Video at Mokwon University, said, "The special lecture will be a valuable opportunity to learn the importance and necessity of film planning from a professional producer," adding, "The Department of Theater, Film, and Video will continue to develop various special lectures and practical sessions to strengthen students' practical skills."

Meanwhile, CEO Kim established About Film with the desire to "directly produce movies" after moving from an advertising agency to a film investment company in the early 2000s.

In the early days of the company, they produced and released comedy films but faced difficulties due to poor box office performance. However, the situation reversed when Extreme Job, released shortly after, achieved the title of a 10 million viewer movie.

Extreme Job is a comedy film depicting the chaotic events at a chicken restaurant secretly opened by five narcotics detectives who are on the verge of disbanding their team to dismantle a crime organization. The film stars actors Ryu Seung-ryong, Lee Ha-nee, Jin Seon-kyu, Lee Dong-hwi, and Gong Myung as narcotics detectives delivering passionate performances.

In the all-time box office rankings, The Admiral: Roaring Currents attracted 17.61 million viewers to take first place, followed by Extreme Job (16.26 million, 2nd), Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds (14.41 million, 3rd), Ode to My Father (14.26 million, 4th), and Avengers: Endgame (13.97 million, 5th).
