Gwangju Seo-gu to Expand 'Artificial Intelligence Care Service' Until Next Month

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) plans to expand its AI care service using AI speakers and IoT-based sensors to 300 households at risk of solitary death in Sangmu 2-dong and Geumho 1-dong by next month.

According to Seo-gu on the 25th, this project is being promoted after receiving 300 million KRW in special local government adjustment grants from Gwangju Metropolitan City, following the positive evaluation of the "AI Care System Construction Project" installed and operated in 100 households within the special social security support zone of Nongsong 1-dong since June.

The AI care service prevents solitary deaths by installing IoT sensors such as AI speakers for medication reminders, music listening, and conversational companionship, as well as door-opening sensors and smart switches that are monitored every minute by the control system to check operation status.

In particular, in case of emergency, the integrated control system operates 24/7 through the AI speaker-KT Telecop-119 linkage system, which can immediately respond to emergencies with the voice command "Jiniya, save me," proactively addressing the issue of solitary deaths that have emerged as a social problem in the aging society and post-COVID-19 era.

Seo-gu plans to expand the target to 500 households by next year, and after performance evaluation and verification, standardize it as an AI-based 4th industrial welfare model to spread the "Gwangju Seo-gu type AI care system" not only in Gwangju but also to local governments nationwide.
