KT Starts Electronic Document Service with 'Pass' App

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT customers will be able to easily verify certificates through electronic documents.

KT announced that it will launch the 'KT Electronic Document' service starting on the 25th. KT Electronic Document is a service that manages various certificates in electronic form through KT's blockchain technology applied on the ‘KT DocumentDX’ platform. Anyone can use it by signing up for Government24 and installing the identity verification platform ‘PASS’ application.

From now on, when KT customers subscribe to or change services such as family bundling or name changes, they can easily verify related certificates at customer centers, KT Plaza, and KT agencies through the ‘Electronic Document’ menu in the PASS app. Previously, customers had to visit administrative agencies to issue certificates or print and submit certificates through Government24.

The service guarantees the authenticity of documents, protecting personal information from risks of forgery and alteration, and also has environmental benefits by reducing paper waste.

The certificates provided through the KT Electronic Document service include 13 frequently used certificates such as resident registration certificates and vaccination certificates, which are offered by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s mobile electronic certificate service, and will be expanded to various civil service documents and general certificates such as career certificates in the future.

KT DocumentDX can manage the entire electronic document lifecycle including creation, storage, distribution, and application. This platform is used to digitally transform various internal business processes of companies and government agencies and to conduct external franchise contracts, subscriptions, and civil affairs non-face-to-face. In September, KT formed the ‘Electronic Document DX One Team’ with 13 companies and is working to expand the service to support ESG management of domestic companies.

An official from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, which provides the mobile electronic certificate service, said, “We will continue to expand the institutions that use electronic certificates so that they can be conveniently used in the daily lives of the public.”

Hyunjin Park, Executive Vice President and Head of KT Customer Strategy Division, stated, “In addition to required documents, we plan to continuously develop KT technology and discover related areas to create a paperless and eco-friendly environment.”

To commemorate the launch of the KT Electronic Document service, KT plans to hold various prize events for customers who subscribe and apply for the electronic document service until November 30, and detailed event information can be found in the PASS app.
