[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Broadcaster Kim Eo-jun has appealed for support for Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, but Jeong Un-hyun, former director of the press office at the Prime Minister's Office who served as the head of public relations for Lee Nak-yeon's campaign, pointed out on the 24th that "It is not right for Kim, who is called a prominent broadcaster, to openly support and appeal for candidate Lee Jae-myung."

Jeong posted on his Facebook that day, saying to Kim, "If you really want to do that, you should quit broadcasting and join Lee Jae-myung's campaign."

He said, "Our constitution guarantees freedom of thought and freedom of expression. Anyone can freely express political opinions and support a particular politician. However, journalists are an exception here," he criticized.

He continued, "If (Kim) has already been broadcasting pro-Lee Jae-myung content and it is difficult to guarantee fairness in the future, then he should put down the microphone at this opportunity," he criticized.

Earlier, Kim appeared on the YouTube channel 'Ddanji Broadcasting Station' on the program 'Kim Eo-jun's Dasbweida' and declared his support by saying, "Lee Jae-myung has come this far on his own," and "From now on, you all need to help."

He said, "The path of someone who has broken through with their own ability without help from money, connections, or backing is difficult and lonely. Very few people reach the level of a presidential candidate on that path," and "That is why Lee Jae-myung deserves to be the platform of our society."

Meanwhile, Kim is regarded as a pro-government broadcaster with influence among the core supporters of the ruling party while hosting TBS radio program 'Kim Eo-jun's News Factory' and YouTube show 'Kim Eo-jun's Dasbweida.' The opposition party has also pointed out that Kim is broadcasting with bias on TBS, which receives budget support from the Seoul city government.
