On the 20th, Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, held a historic site tour event with members of the Liberation Association at the joint burial site of Yu Gwan-sun in Manguri Park.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is supporting a pilgrimage to war memorial sites until mid-next month to honor the contributions of those who sacrificed for the country and to promote harmony among veterans' organizations.
Nine veterans' organizations within the district are participating in this pilgrimage. First, the Korean War Veterans Association held a modest event at the Veterans Hall on the 13th.
On the 20th, the Liberation Association visited the joint burial site of activist Yu Gwan-sun, and the Agent Orange Veterans Association, Vietnam War Veterans Association, and others plan to visit Manguri Park sequentially to reflect on the historical significance.
Jungnang-gu Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi stated, “We will create a society that respects those who selflessly sacrificed for the country,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to honor the families of veterans who devoted themselves to the nation by enhancing the pride of veterans and improving their welfare through various projects.”
The district plans to significantly expand support for national veterans starting next year. To strengthen respect and support for veterans, the veterans' honor allowance is being considered to increase from 20,000 won to 30,000 won, and the death condolence payment from 200,000 won to 400,000 won.
