Strengthening Comprehensive Expertise from Legal and Administrative Fields to Disaster and Safety... Lee Sung, Council Chairman, "Citizens' Expectations for the Role of Local Administration Increasing Daily, Will Contribute to the Development of Seoul's 25 Autonomous Districts Based on Expert Advice in Each Field"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The Seoul Metropolitan Council of District Mayors (Chairman Seong Lee, Mayor of Guro-gu) appointed 11 experts from various fields as advisory committee members on the morning of the 22nd at the Renaissance Hall of Guro-gu Office, aiming to strengthen the council's expertise.
In his greeting, Chairman Lee Seong said, "Citizens' expectations for the role of local administration are increasing day by day," adding, "Since we have invited experts covering law, administration, finance, welfare, as well as disaster and safety fields, we expect the advisory committee members to contribute to the development of Seoul's 25 autonomous districts."
The appointed advisory committee members include Bongchang Lee, lawyer at Bongchang Law Office (Law); Kwangsi Kim, Chairman of the Guro-gu Financial Planning Review Committee (Administration); Ho Lee, Co-CEO of The Eum (Administration); Sangbeom Lee, Senior Specialist of the National Council of Mayors and Governors (Finance); Wonjae Lee, lawyer at Hangyeol Law Firm (Labor); Heungyeon Jo, labor attorney at Sidae Labor Corporation (Labor); Ilseong Nam, Professor of Social Welfare at Sungkonghoe University (Welfare); Jehyeok Im, lawyer at Seohwa Law Firm (Disaster and Safety); Sugwon Lee, Professor of Architecture at Dongyang Mirae University (Architecture and Safety); Taehwan Kim, Professor of Security at Yongin University (Firefighting and Disaster Prevention); and Inseong Yoo, General Director of Industrial Safety at the Korea Labor-Management Relations Promotion Institute (Industrial Safety), totaling 11 members.
Notably, four experts in the disaster and safety fields were included. This appears to be an effort to strengthen proactive responses to elements threatening citizens' well-being, such as disaster, safety, firefighting, and welfare, especially in light of the enactment of the Serious Accident Punishment Act earlier this year and its scheduled enforcement in January next year.
The appointed advisory committee members will serve a one-year term, providing policy advice on common issues across Seoul's 25 autonomous districts.
