Gwangju Dong-gu, Recruiting Participants for the 18th Nostalgic Chungjang Festival Program

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Dong-gu, Gwangju (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 22nd that it is recruiting participants for the program of the ‘18th Memory of Chungjang Festival,’ the largest urban street culture and arts festival in Korea.

The ‘Film Camera IN Gwangju Travel’ program is a healing experience program where participants carry a disposable film camera provided by the organizer and a course map to capture Gwangju’s urban history, culture and arts, tourist attractions, and Mudeungsan Mountain. It will recruit 250 participants on a first-come, first-served basis until November 5.

Participants for the ‘Lattene (When I Was Young)’ contest, which recalls photos and stories filled with citizens’ memories, and the ‘Chungjang Festival Drawing Contest’ for developing the Chungjang Festival brand product design will be recruited until November 12. Selected honorable mentions through this screening will be subject to on-site sticker voting by visitors during the festival period.

Participants for the ‘Retro Dance Contest’ and ‘University Song Festival Returns,’ held together with the Line Cultural Foundation, will be recruited until November 8. A stage has been prepared where participants can freely showcase nostalgic music and retro dance.

Participation methods can be checked through the Chungjang Festival website’s ‘Festival News’ and Dong-gu Office website’s ‘Notices and Announcements.’

Dong-gu is making every effort to prepare the event so that the 18th Memory of Chungjang Festival, held under the theme ‘Healing YES Chungjang Festival’ at the National Asia Culture Center and throughout Dong-gu, can be conducted safely with citizens’ safety as the top priority and under a thorough quarantine system.

Mayor Im Taek of Dong-gu said, “Although the period is shorter than in previous years, we are preparing many emotional programs that can evoke healing and memories,” and added, “In the daily life of COVID-19, we hope that all citizens actively participate and freely express their talents and capabilities.”
