[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] Former leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, Lee Nak-yeon, directly criticized former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl, who sparked controversy with a ‘dog apology’ photo, on the 22nd, saying, “Stop pretending to be a presidential candidate.”

Through Facebook on the same day, former leader Lee said, “While demands for an apology are pouring in, his act of posting a ‘dog apology’ photo on SNS is either a mockery of the people, insensitivity to the world, or simply outrageous.”

He added, “I have been keeping as quiet as possible since the Democratic Party candidate primary. However, I cannot remain silent about former Prosecutor General Yoon’s behavior,” and criticized, “Especially his outrageous remarks defending Jeon Du-hwan blatantly revealed his bottomless ignorance and low-level historical awareness.”

He continued, “Former Prosecutor General Yoon has already lost the qualifications to be a presidential candidate,” and sharpened his words, “The reality of such a person pretending to be the nation’s highest leader signals a crisis for the Republic of Korea.”

He then urged, “I repeatedly demand that he bow his head and apologize to the victims of Gwangju and Jeon Du-hwan’s dictatorship.”
