[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] On the same day that Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate and former Prosecutor General, expressed "regret" regarding his remarks about former President Jeon Du-hwan, he sparked controversy again by posting a photo on social media (SNS) showing a dog being given an "apple."
On the 22nd, Kwon Seong-ju, spokesperson for former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min's campaign, criticized, "We are witnessing a candidate unlike any we have ever experienced before," adding, "When asked to apologize for his reckless remarks, he mocked the public by posting a photo of a fruit apple on SNS, and finally, on the late night of the day he barely said he was 'regretful,' he additionally posted a photo of giving an apple to a dog."
Spokesperson Kwon pointed out, "Anyone could clearly understand the meaning and intention of the photo," emphasizing, "The 'apple' is meant to be given to the dog."
He continued, "The 'king (王)' character on Yoon Seok-yeol's palm was bizarre, and these recent 'apple' photos were grotesque," noting, "As reactions describing it as chilling and frightening quickly spread, the photos were deleted after about an hour." He added, "Deleting the photos from SNS does not erase the true intentions already revealed from the minds of the people," and criticized, "Whether it was family members or staff, this is not something that can be resolved by simply disciplining the SNS manager."
Spokesperson Kwon declared, "A grotesque candidate who apologizes insincerely in front and mocks behind has absolutely no qualifications to be the President of the Republic of Korea."
Meanwhile, Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, said, "I woke up this morning and thought, what kind of behavior is this beyond common sense..." and added, "I feel troubled..."
