Participated in the '2021 Gwangju MediHealth Industry Expo'... Showcased New Technologies and Products
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital has officially launched the 'Precision Medicine Industrialization' initiative.
The Advanced Precision Medicine Industrialization Support Center at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital recently participated in the '2021 Gwangju MediHealth Industry Exhibition' held at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center in Gwangju, showcasing new precision medicine technologies and products, the center announced on the 21st.
The center operated a 'Precision Medicine Joint Pavilion' in collaboration with partner organizations such as Jeonnam Technopark Foundation and biomedical companies including RamediTech, NgenBio, and KBlueBio, conducting active consultations on development.
Through the joint pavilion operation, these organizations and companies secured purchase contracts worth approximately 150 million KRW for precision medicine products and achieved results including 13 consultations and new product development discussions.
NgenBio is a company that commercialized innovative precision diagnostic technology integrating BT (Biotechnology) and IT (Information Technology) based on next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology in the genomics field.
At this industry exhibition, NgenBio displayed NGS test panels (BRCAaccuTest®PLUS, HEMEaccuTest™, SOLIDaccuTest™, HEREDaccuTest™) used for diagnosing breast cancer, ovarian cancer, solid tumors, and NGS analysis software (NGeneAnalySys®). They signed contracts worth 70 million KRW with domestic buyers and conducted five technical consultations.
KBlueBio is a company developing diagnostic devices and therapeutics for precision medicine targeting elderly and relapsed refractory hematologic cancers. They are promoting anticancer drug development, precision medicine molecular diagnostic platform development, and companion diagnostics and precision medicine commercialization.
At the exhibition, they showcased the RNAseq NGS panel (KBB™-RNAseq NGS-Leukemia-PHB) for precise diagnosis, prognosis estimation, treatment effect evaluation, early relapse detection, and targeted therapy selection for hematologic cancers, along with over 30 new drug candidates. Through consultations with domestic hospitals, companies, and buyers, they achieved contracts worth 67 million KRW and six technical consultations.
RamediTech exhibited equipment for peripheral blood collection using lasers without needles (HandyRay-Lite, HandyRay-Pro) and a skin disease treatment device using excimer light (CAREVEAM), receiving two consultations regarding usage inquiries and sales rights from domestic and international hospitals and companies, and signed contracts worth over 10 million KRW.
The company is also developing a system that measures chronic diseases (blood sugar, blood pressure, electrocardiogram, and other diagnostic modules) using blood collected with the needle-free laser blood collection device. At this exhibition, they discussed product function enhancement, clinical application cooperation, and new product development with domestic and international medical device support organizations and hospitals.
Additionally, as part of the 'Establishment of Infrastructure for Advanced Precision Medical Service Industrialization' project, the center set up a separate joint pavilion with beneficiary companies of Jeonnam Technopark such as NanobioLife (rapid diagnostic kits), Dana Medical (Korean medicine acupuncture), CG Bio (biomaterial components), and Dongwon Medical (sutures) to conduct promotional activities.
Shin Myung-geun, head of the Advanced Precision Medicine Industrialization Support Center, stated, "Precision medicine is the main paradigm of next-generation medicine that realizes patient-specific customized treatment," adding, "The center will lead the industrialization of precision medicine through collaboration with domestic and international medical companies and institutions for new product development."
