Jangseong-gun Awards 23 Model Seniors and Contributors to Senior Welfare

[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Doo-seok) announced on the 21st that it held the 25th Senior Citizens' Day Commendation Ceremony on the 20th at the 4th floor Academy Hall of the county office.

The event was held with only the awardees, their families, and a small number of guests attending to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Senior Citizens' Day is a legal commemorative day established to honor the hard work of the elderly. Although the official day is October 2, the county set the ceremony date to the 20th to add significance to October as the "Month of Respect for the Elderly."

A total of 23 people were selected as commendation recipients, including 12 model seniors (one of whom received the Governor's Commendation) and 11 contributors to senior welfare.

Governor Yoo Doo-seok presented the commendations to the awardees and exchanged words of gratitude.

Governor Yoo said, "The county is leading other cities and counties by promoting various senior welfare services tailored to local conditions," adding, "We will continue to do our best to provide a happy old age and a daily life free from COVID-19 concerns."
