[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Kang Seung-je, Deputy Governor of Hamyang County, announced on the 21st that he visited the waste landfill site within the Hamyang County Waste Integrated Treatment Plant to conduct an on-site safety management inspection as part of the National Safety Diagnosis.

This National Safety Diagnosis involved stakeholders from various fields and private experts, focusing on inspecting minor risk factors, structural safety of facilities, compliance with safety regulations, accident prevention, and the safety awareness of managers.

Deputy Governor Kang received an on-site explanation from county facility officials about the waste recycling process at the Waste Integrated Treatment Plant, reducing the use of disposable products, proper separation and disposal methods for household waste, use of volume-based waste bags, leachate treatment process at the landfill, and operation of the incinerator.

He then checked the progress of the second phase expansion project of the waste landfill currently under design, reviewed the amount of waste generated and the waste treatment process, emphasized the importance of waste separation and collection, and encouraged employees working in harsh environments.

As a result of the safety inspection, minor issues were corrected on-site, and facilities with serious defects or urgent risk factors will be subject to usage restrictions, detailed safety inspections, and follow-up measures such as repairs and reinforcements.

Deputy Governor Kang Seung-je said, “A moment of negligence can lead to a major disaster, so please make special efforts in safety management,” and urged, “Please do your best to create a clean Hamyang through reducing the use of disposable products and thorough separation and disposal of household waste.”
