[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] A video showing a driver in a narrow alleyway recklessly demanding the oncoming vehicle to move aside and blocking the road has sparked controversy. The man blocked the road for over 25 minutes and exhibited absurd behavior such as lying down on the road when the police arrived.

On the 20th, a video titled "Driver blocked the alleyway for 25 minutes! Lay down when the police came" was uploaded on the YouTube channel 'Han Moon-cheol TV'.

The video informant, Mr. A, drove into a narrow alley in Yesan-gun, Chungnam, around 10 a.m. on the 15th to take his ailing grandfather to the hospital. Then, a car approached from the opposite direction, and Mr. A reversed to allow the other vehicle to pass.

However, the driver of the oncoming vehicle, Mr. B, ignored this and kept advancing toward Mr. A. Even though Mr. A reversed as far as possible, Mr. B’s vehicle came even closer.

Afterward, Mr. B got out of his car and approached Mr. A, making remarks such as "How old are you?" and "If you can't drive, stay at home." Then, Mr. B got back into his car and pressed his vehicle closely against Mr. A’s car once again.

Eventually, Mr. A called the police for help. When the police arrived, Mr. B finally moved his car to a space behind. As Mr. A was about to leave, Mr. B blocked his way again.

The police requested cooperation once more. However, Mr. B suddenly got out of his car and lay down on the ground. When the situation was not resolved, the police helped Mr. A park his car closer to the roadside. Watching this, Mr. B eventually got up, got into his car, and passed by Mr. A’s side.

Attorney Han Moon-cheol explained, "This is not retaliation or reckless driving but a general traffic obstruction crime, which carries heavier penalties," adding, "According to Article 185 of the Criminal Act, obstructing traffic can result in imprisonment for up to 10 years or a fine of up to 15 million won."

Netizens who watched the video criticized, saying, "It’s clearly intentional. He should be severely punished for traffic obstruction," "People like that should have their licenses revoked," and "Even when others yield, he pushes through as if it’s his right."
