Yoon Ho-jung: "Yoon Seok-yeol's Worst Remarks That Could Rot Your Ears"

"During 25 Years in Politics, I've Never Seen a Candidate Make Such Blunders, Falsehoods, and Absurd Statements"

[Asia Economy Reporters Oh Ju-yeon and Jeon Jin-young] Yoon Ho-jung, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, sharply criticized former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's remarks defending the Chun Doo-hwan regime on the 20th, calling them "the worst slander that would make everyone's ears rot."

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, Floor Leader Yoon said, "Yesterday, candidate Yoon made an outrageous remark, saying 'Chun Doo-hwan was good at politics, and quite a few people in Honam say so as well.'

Floor Leader Yoon added, "There are still many households in Honam that hold memorial rites on the same day for those who sacrificed their lives under Chun Doo-hwan's military dictatorship," and criticized, "This is a terrible slander that drives a nail into the hearts of these people and would make the ears of all who are ashamed of that history rot."

He then criticized former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's qualifications, who has frequently caused controversy due to verbal slips.

Floor Leader Yoon said, "In my 25 years in politics, I have never seen a candidate who makes such slips, lies, and outrageous remarks every single day," and added, "The bigger problem is that these slanders seem to come from his true feelings, which is even more serious."

He pointed out, "It is astonishing how Chun Doo-hwan and Yoon Seok-yeol are alike in privatizing organizations to satisfy personal ambitions, staging a coup, and not hesitating to destroy democracy."

He then held the People Power Party responsible. Floor Leader Yoon emphasized, "Where is Representative Lee Jun-seok and what is he doing?" and said, "If this is a personal deviation by Yoon Seok-yeol, Representative Lee must discipline him; otherwise, there must never be a situation where democracy and Honam are mentioned again in such a manner."
