Gaon Media and Subsidiary K-Future Tech Unveil 'Next-Generation AR Glasses'

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Gaon Media, a total AI solution specialist company, announced on the 20th that it will participate in the 3rd International Public Safety Industry Expo with its subsidiary K-Future Tech and showcase its self-developed AR (Augmented Reality) glasses.

Gaon Media and K-Future Tech will demonstrate police special training education content simulating emergency situations through AR glasses at this expo. Last year, Gaon Media was selected for the national project 'XR Flagship Project' promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and developed and supplied XR (Extended Reality) devices for police complex terrorism response education and training.

The AR glasses unveiled this time are equipped with a 5G communication module, enabling network communication independently on the device. High-quality networks are essential to run large-capacity content such as AR and VR (Virtual Reality), necessary for metaverse implementation, at ultra-high speed and ultra-low latency.

The display focuses on maximizing content immersion and reducing eye fatigue. It uses high-resolution organic light-emitting diode (OLED), which is thin, lightweight, and highly regarded as a material for XR devices, with fast video response speed. It secures a natural field of view with a wide viewing angle.

A company official said, "There is no marketable domestic finished product in Korea, so foreign equipment from the U.S., China, etc., is being used," adding, "We will quickly secure the competitiveness of the AR glasses proactively developed through K-Future Tech and make it a new momentum for the group's joint growth."

K-Future Tech is an XR solution specialist company established in April by Gaon Media with a 60% stake, and plans to actively target government-to-government (B2G) and business-to-business (B2B) markets. It is expected that the group synergy will be further strengthened based on Gaon Media's AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology and the network solutions of its subsidiary Gaon Broadband.

Meanwhile, the International Public Safety Industry Expo, the only public safety industry specialized B2B exhibition in East Asia, is jointly hosted by the National Police Agency and Incheon Metropolitan City and is held at Songdo Convensia from the 20th to the 22nd. Government agencies and domestic and international manufacturers and distributors buyers are expected to participate, creating a large-scale business exchange venue.
