Signed a Business Agreement with the Digital Literacy Education Association
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education is training digital literacy education experts and learning managers to support literacy learners who are not familiar with using smart devices.
On the 20th, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it will sign a business agreement with the Digital Literacy Education Association to strengthen digital capabilities and activate lifelong education.
The Digital Literacy Education Association is a non-profit corporation established in 2016. Digital literacy refers to the knowledge and skills to perform desired tasks using digital devices and obtain necessary information.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education signed the agreement to support literacy learners who have difficulty participating in non-face-to-face classes due to unfamiliarity with smart device usage and adult learners who struggle with online tools such as Zoom.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will provide program operation and administrative support for lifelong education stakeholders, while the association will support educational content, programs, and education experts to strengthen digital capabilities.
In November, the two organizations plan to jointly conduct training for lifelong education stakeholders of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education using the metaverse. They will foster experts such as digital literacy education specialists and digital learning managers using the content owned by the association to promote the activation of lifelong education.
Cho Hee-yeon, Superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "Since digital literacy is an essential competency for future survival, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will contribute to reducing the digital divide in lifelong education sites through various digital literacy education programs."
