Actor Choi Bul-am appointed as Honorary Chief of the Criminal Investigation Division (Police Commissioner).

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwanju] On the 20th, the National Police Agency held a ceremony to appoint honorary police officers at the police headquarters in Migeun-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, appointing 10 individuals who are actively working in the fields of culture and arts as honorary police officers.

Actor Choi Bulam, who appeared in the popular 1970s-1980s drama "Investigation Captain" playing the role of the captain solving various cases and enhancing the image of police investigations, was promoted to honorary police superintendent 50 years after being appointed as an honorary police officer and was appointed as the first honorary director of the Criminal Investigation Department.

Additionally, actor Kim Seonghwan was appointed as honorary traffic safety chief (honorary senior superintendent) for his contribution to preventing traffic accidents through the promotion of the "Seon Seon Seon" traffic policy, and actor Lee Hana, who played the 112 center chief in the drama "Voice," was promoted and appointed as honorary 112 situation team leader (honorary sergeant).

Seven new honorary police officers were also appointed. Actor Kim Youngcheol, who showed close communication and empathy with citizens through "A Walk Around the Neighborhood with Kim Youngcheol," was appointed honorary precinct chief (honorary superintendent), actor Park Sangwon, who serves as the National Police Agency's crime prevention ambassador, was appointed honorary public safety chief (honorary superintendent), mountaineer Um Honggil, who conquered famous high mountains worldwide with indomitable will and spirit, was appointed honorary police special forces chief (honorary superintendent), painter Jung Seongtae, who has raised the police's cultural sensitivity as a judge of the Police Culture Exhibition for 22 years, was appointed honorary victim protection team leader (honorary superintendent), writer Kim Eunhee, who wrote many professional police investigation dramas such as Signal, Sign, and Ghost, was appointed honorary forensic investigation team leader (honorary inspector), director Kang Yoonseong of the movie "The Outlaws," which depicts the violent crime unit's crackdown on organized crime, was appointed honorary violent crime team leader (honorary inspector), and director Kim Joohwan of the movie "Midnight Runners," which portrays police academy students' chaotic crackdown on crime organizations, was appointed honorary criminal investigation team leader (honorary sergeant).

The police have been appointing citizens recognized for their contributions to the development of police administration as honorary police officers in commemoration of Police Day since 1967, and currently, 140 honorary officers are active. Commissioner General Kim Changryong said, "I thank the honorary police officers who have expressed the positive image of the police in various fields of culture and arts, and I ask for your continued generous support so that the public and the police can communicate through culture and arts."
