Seoul City Publishes 2nd Volume of 'Open Library Policy' Series... Covering Library Organization, Collections, and Collaborative Activities

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 20th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will publish the second volume of the 'Open Library Policy' series to enhance citizen services and support local libraries so that citizens can easily understand libraries and enjoy library services.

The second volume of the Open Library Policy series consists of three publications containing experimental cases and survey content to help citizens easily understand previously unknown library organization and operation information: ▲ Organizational Development for Library Innovation, Day 1 ▲ Seoul Public Library Collection Development Policy Model ▲ Survey on Cooperation Activities of Seoul Public Libraries.

The Open Library Policy series aims to advance the service level of libraries in the Seoul area by strengthening the research and survey functions of representative libraries and providing information that is practically helpful to the library field. During the writing process, surveys, opinion gathering, and interviews with stakeholders were conducted to understand the current status of the library field, and service issues identified during this process were presented in the report. The Open Library Policy series will be used as a basis for libraries to develop and prepare services that meet the diverse service demands of citizens in a rapidly changing social environment.

The Open Library Policy series can be accessed and downloaded by anyone through the Seoul Library website and the Seoul Metropolitan Government e-Book website. Lee Jeong-su, Director of Seoul Library, explained, "The Open Library Policy series was published with the intention of understanding the current situation of our local libraries and finding areas for improvement in order to enjoy more sufficient service benefits from the libraries in the area where I live."
