[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the afternoon of the 19th, Seo Chunsu, the mayor of Hamyang County, and Park Jonghun, the superintendent of Gyeongnam Office of Education, held the '2022 Hamyang Happy Education District Business Agreement Ceremony' at the county office's large conference room.
The 'Happy Education District' refers to areas designated by an agreement between the Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education and basic local governments to actively communicate and cooperate between schools and local communities to innovate public education and establish regional educational communities.
It is about educational institutions and local governments actively communicating and cooperating to provide education that prepares students for the future society.
Hamyang Office of Education and Hamyang County began discussions to promote the Happy Education District in March and decided to operate the Happy Education District for two years starting in 2022, with the extension decision based on operational results after two years.
Gyeongnam Office of Education and Hamyang County will promote for two years ▲ the establishment of a regional educational community ▲ the creation of a happy school culture ▲ operation of village schools that nurture students' dreams ▲ and the formation of village educational communities to foster a happy educational city.
To this end, both institutions will cooperate administratively and financially, each investing 200 million won as matching funds.
Before the business agreement ceremony, Professor Yoo Chang-bok of Sungkonghoe University was invited to give a lecture on 'Activation Plans for Village Educational Communities in Hamyang County,' providing a time to gather wisdom with local residents.
Following the agreement ceremony, opinions on the 'Hamyang Happy Education District Operation Plan' were shared, led by Lee Young-ae, a scholarship officer at Hamyang Office of Education.
Superintendent Park Jonghun stated, “For the activation of the Happy Education District, active interest and participation from schools, parents, and local residents are urgently needed,” and added, “Through cooperation with Hamyang County, we will strive to utilize village resources so that children can grow happily in their region and village.”
Mayor Seo Chunsu said, “I hope to create a Hamyang Happy Education District where none of our children in Hamyang are left out and everyone can be happy and freely develop their talents,” and added, “We will do our best to make Hamyang a place where students, parents, and local residents are all happy and learning is enjoyable through communication and cooperation between schools and the local community.”
