West Sea Coast Guard Agency Selected as Best in Public Institution Records Management Evaluation

Collected and Organized 2,162 Historical Records to Establish the 'Seohae Coast Guard History Museum'... Recognized as an Exemplary Case

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] The Seohae Regional Coast Guard Agency (Chief Lee Myung-jun) was selected as a 'Grade A' institution in the 2021 Public Institution Records Management Evaluation on the 19th.

This records management evaluation was conducted by the National Archives of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety targeting 238 public institutions including central administrative agencies, special local administrative agencies, and national and public universities, with 60 institutions including the Seohae Coast Guard Agency being selected as 'Grade A'.

The evaluation has been conducted since 2007 and comprehensively scores the overall records management tasks of public institutions.

The evaluation indicators consist of establishing basic plans for records management, building records management facilities and equipment, securing storage space, and key cases of records management promotion.

In particular, in this evaluation, the Seohae Coast Guard Agency's 'Donation and Collection of Historical Records for the Establishment of the Seohae Coast Guard Agency History Museum' was selected as an excellent case of records management.

The Seohae Coast Guard Agency collected and organized 2,162 historical records of 509 types related to the Seohae Coast Guard Agency and its five affiliated maritime police stations, held personally by current and former public officials, and established a history museum.

They also made efforts to preserve and utilize important personally owned records by exhibiting and promoting the donated records.

Baek Tae-jong, Planning and Operations Manager of the Seohae Coast Guard Agency, said, “Thanks to the efforts of our staff, we were able to achieve good results in the records management institution evaluation by the National Archives of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Based on this achievement, we will further develop the records management tasks of the Seohae Regional Coast Guard Agency and do our best to widely inform the public about the historical records of the maritime police.”
