Hwang In-hong, Muju County Governor, Receives Appreciation Plaque from Korea National Park Service

Recognition for the Successful Restoration of 'Gucheon-dong Eosagil'

[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Hwang In-hong, the governor of Muju County, received a plaque of appreciation from the Korea National Park Service (Chairman Song Hyung-geun) on the 19th.

The plaque of appreciation was awarded in recognition of Muju County's contribution to the "restoration and internal and external promotion of Gucheondong Eosagil."

Governor Hwang In-hong said, "Despite the COVID-19 situation, the number of tourists visiting the restored section of Eosagil continues to increase," adding, "I feel great pride that Eosagil, which we devoted much effort to through various projects and activities such as restoration, promotion, and marketing, has established itself as a treasure of Deogyusan and a pride of Muju County."

Gucheondong Eosagil (4.9 km) is a valley trail extending from Inwoldam, the 16th scenic spot among the 33 scenic spots of Gucheondong, to Baekryeonsa, the 32nd scenic spot. It is divided into sections: the "Forest Trail" from the entrance to Inwoldam, the "Integrity Trail" from Inwoldam to Guwoldam, the Healing Trail from Guwoldam to Ansimdae, and the Sky Trail from Ansimdae to Baekryeonsa.

The Eosagil restoration project was carried out by Muju County from 2016 to June of this year to establish the foundation of Muju as a world-class premier tourist destination and to create a "Muju-style tourist site." With a project cost of over 1 billion KRW, two wooden bridges, deck roads, stairs, wooden decks, and signboards were installed to enhance convenience.

Additionally, the project preserved the original trails and stone stairs while minimizing artificial structures to maintain the meaning of "restoring the old path."
