Namwon-si Successfully Concludes Urban Regeneration New Deal Academy Performance Sharing Meeting

[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Jeonbuk Namwon City (Mayor Lee Hwan-joo) successfully concluded the ‘Urban Regeneration New Deal Academy Performance Sharing Event’ on the 17th.

According to the city on the 18th, this performance sharing event was held in an outdoor space at Namwon City’s first urban regeneration building, the Red Brick, in compliance with quarantine guidelines in line with the COVID-19 era.

The event, held together with citizens, exhibited photos of the classes from the second half of this year’s Urban Regeneration New Deal Academy and works created by the students to share the content of the lessons.

By course, the glass craft workshop startup education and gardener training included a one-day class conducted directly by the students, and a cafe menu tasting event was held for the cafe startup education students.

Citizens participating in the performance sharing event enjoyed a simple stained glass experience with the glass craft students by making refrigerator magnets, and engaged in a planting experience by planting Cymbidium kanran on earthen walls under the guidance of students who enhanced their skills through the village gardener class.

The closing ceremony of the ‘Solo-less Film Festival,’ which was led directly by youth involved in the urban regeneration project and combined urban camping with a film festival, was held, and despite the cold weather, many citizens visited and enjoyed a weekend where urban regeneration and culture came together.

A city official said, “We will do our best to provide opportunities for resident participation in urban regeneration projects through the New Deal Academy and resident contest projects, and to support the capacity building of resident organizations that are attached to the region and continuously active.”
