Jindo-gun Actively Participates in Immediate Reporting of Jindo Dog Changes

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do is encouraging active participation from residents through a survey on breeding conditions and distribution of promotional materials by the end of this month to improve the breeding environment of Jindo dogs, Natural Monument No. 53.

On the 18th, the county announced that it is guiding residents who breed Jindo dogs to immediately report any changes such as ownership transfer, loss, or death of the dogs they are raising.

In line with the recently changing animal welfare paradigm, promotional materials have been produced and distributed, banners posted, and website promotions conducted to improve the breeding environment, including promptly cleaning up waste, keeping leashes loose, maintaining clean houses and playgrounds, and requiring leashes during outings and walks.

Recently, a "dog meat farm" was uncovered in Jindo-gun, a Jindo dog protection zone, where Jindo dogs were found, prompting a fundamental demand for measures regarding the management system of Jindo dogs.

To prevent recurrence, the county plans to thoroughly improve the management and breeding environment of Jindo dogs through amendments to related laws after consulting with relevant organizations based on the results of a survey of Jindo dog breeding farms.

An official from the Jindo Dog Livestock Division of Jindo-gun said, "In an era with 6.4 million households raising companion animals, we are promoting to residents so that Jindo dogs can actively participate in the changing trends of animal welfare."
