Ahead of the 'Daejang-dong Audit,' Ruling Party Supports Lee: "Please Listen to Lee Jae-myung's Remarks"

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Joo-yeon] On the 17th, a day before the Gyeonggi Province audit, the Democratic Party of Korea came out to defend Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate (Governor of Gyeonggi Province).

On this day, floor spokesperson Han Jun-ho said in a statement, "The People Power Party has already abandoned the national audit and is solely focused on 'framing Lee Jae-myung,' so it is obvious that tomorrow there will be baseless questions and the creation of fake news."

He added, "When the conservative party, the predecessor of the People Power Party, supported 100 billion won of tax money and handed over all development profits of Busan LCT to construction corruption forces, Candidate Lee recovered 550.3 billion won of development profits from the Daejang-dong development project for public interest without any tax support, and even obtained a pledge to recover all profits if bribery charges are detected," and said, "In the eyes of the public, the People Power Party's offensive appears only as a 'corruption shield' to collude with construction corruption forces and protect suspects involved in crimes such as the '50 Billion Club.'"

He then urged people to listen carefully to Candidate Lee’s remarks at the audit scheduled for the 18th.

Floor spokesperson Han said, "It will be possible to directly confirm from Governor Lee Jae-myung’s own words that the Daejang-dong speculation was transformed into public development, turning a development-centered real estate policy into a 'coexistent land development' policy," and added, "I hope this will be an opportunity to inform the public of Candidate Lee’s efforts and sincerity to prevent development profits from being concentrated in the hands of a few."

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party will hold the first meetings of the 'Hwacheon Daeyu Construction Corruption Truth-finding Task Force' and the 'Accusation Manipulation National Disorder Truth-finding Task Force' at the National Assembly in the afternoon. The focus is expected to be on allegations related to former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol’s accusation manipulation.

Spokesperson Lee Yong-bin said in a statement, "We hope the truth about former People Power Party lawmakers who embezzled enormous development profits from Daejang-dong, corrupt legal professionals, former journalists, and Yoon Seok-yeol, the prospective candidate suspected of condoning the Busan Savings Bank’s bad loans, will be fully revealed."
