Yoon Seok-yeol: "Lee Jae-myung Family Will Plunder the People... I Will Stop Them"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Seoyoung] Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate and former Prosecutor General, expressed his determination to "stop the looting of the people by the Lee Jae-myung family" regarding Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate.

On the 17th, Yoon posted on his Facebook a message titled "I will stop the looting of the people by the Lee Jae-myung family." He stated, "Looking at the various newly revealed preferential treatment suspicions following the Daejang-dong gate, Lee's habitual breach of trust is evident," adding, "He repeats the same methods while moving from region to region."

Yoon continued, "The Baekhyeon-dong retaining wall apartment case is the most representative," explaining, "In 2015, then Seongnam Mayor Lee Jae-myung upgraded the land use of the former Korea Food Research Institute site in Baekhyeon-dong from a natural green area to a quasi-residential area by four levels." He added, "This land had failed to be sold eight times due to no change in land use, but as soon as Kim In-seop, who was Lee’s campaign headquarters chief, joined the developer, a review for land use change was received within a month, and the actual change was made several months later."

Yoon claimed, "Due to Lee’s preferential treatment, the developer gained a massive sales profit of 314.2 billion KRW," and "His close aide Kim In-seop demanded a 25% stake from the developer and received 7 billion KRW after a lawsuit." He questioned, "What great work did he do to receive such a huge sum of 7 billion KRW?" and "Wasn't it related to lobbying for Seongnam City's permits?" He also noted, "This is very similar to the relationship between Woo Dong-gyu and Hwacheon Daeyu."

He emphasized, "This is a clear act of looting the people," stating, "Lee used the power of the mayor’s permit authority to seize the people's property and funnel it to his close aides and private companies." He also explained another suspicious project that occurred when Lee was mayor of Seongnam, referring to the so-called 'former Baekhyeon Amusement Park site-related suspicions.'

Yoon said, "Lee, his close aides, and the companies that shared massive development profits with them are truly the 'Lee Jae-myung family,'" stressing, "Their habitual breach of trust is an act of looting the people and betraying the nation." He added, "As seen in the Daejang-dong gate, Lee designed and directed the scheme, with aides like Woo Dong-gyu acting as lieutenants, and private companies moving on the front lines in this fraudulent act. They privatized the power entrusted by the people for personal gain," concluding, "The victims are the people and the Republic of Korea."

On the same day, Yoon raised his voice of criticism, saying, "Although it seems unlikely, if such a candidate becomes president, what kind of events would unfold?" and "Wouldn't he carry out the same acts done in Seongnam City and Gyeonggi Province on the entire country?" He also said, "Wouldn't he fail to break his old habits and attempt even greater looting against the people?" He concluded his post with, "I will stop the Lee Jae-myung family’s takeover," and "I will protect the people's property."
