[Asia Economy Online Issue Team] Lee Ji-hyun, former member of the group Jewelry, candidly shared her feelings about her two divorces.

Lee Ji-hyun appeared as the first guest on Channel S's 'Healing Lodge 2,' which aired on the 13th. This was her first broadcast appearance in seven years since the MBC drama 'Tomorrow Victory' ended in April 2016.

Lee Ji-hyun said, "It has been seven years since I last appeared on a broadcast. I was very busy raising my children. I am raising my 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son alone," and added, "My health deteriorated a lot. I was physically in so much pain and it was difficult."

She continued, "I never had time to feel envious when I saw the Jewelry members," and said, "Because I was in an environment where I had to protect my children, all my focus was on them," evoking sympathy from those around her.

When asked if her children knew about the divorce, Lee Ji-hyun said, "The children know exactly that their father and I separated. Actually, they don’t know about the second marriage," and explained, "Due to many difficult circumstances, we couldn’t live together."

She also recalled, "One day, when an article about the divorce was published, I told my eldest child. When I said, 'Mom separated from Dad and remarried,' they asked, 'Really? When did you do that?' I told them, 'It is Mom’s duty to protect you, so I divorced to be with you,'" recalling the moment.

After divorcing her husband, Lee Ji-hyun confessed that she faced financial difficulties. She said, "I was actually strong in front of the children. I pushed a stroller, carried a baby carrier, and carried a lot of luggage with the kids."

Lee Ji-hyun also revealed that she experienced panic disorder around the end of January last year. She said, "I couldn’t breathe, my whole body was paralyzed and twisted, and I was rushed to the emergency room. I thought, 'I have lived healthily and bravely until now, this can’t be happening,' so I went to neurology, cardiology, and orthopedics. I was stubborn and didn’t listen to the doctors, but eventually, I thought I was going to die, so I went to psychiatry," and lamented, "I spent a year lying down."

Meanwhile, Lee Ji-hyun married a company employee seven years her senior in March 2013 and had one son and one daughter, but they divorced by mutual consent in August 2016, three years after marriage. At that time, it was reported that Lee Ji-hyun gave up property division and alimony to raise her two children herself and only received child support. She later married an ophthalmologist in September the following year, but news reported that they divorced three years later.
