The Department of Nursing at Dong-Eui Science University held a non-face-to-face Zoom Nightingale Pledge Ceremony and Medal Awarding Ceremony.

The Department of Nursing at Dong-Eui Science University held the '2021 Nightingale Oath Ceremony and Medal Award Ceremony' on the 7th at the university's Jinrigwan.
To prevent and contain the spread of COVID-19, 16 representative fourth-year nursing students attended the event in person, while other students participated remotely via Zoom.
The Nightingale Oath Ceremony is a ritual where nursing students publicly pledge their ethics and nursing principles as nurses.
The event proceeded in the order of the opening remarks by the head of the nursing department, the Nightingale Oath Ceremony, the medal award ceremony, encouragement speeches by President Kim Young-do and Busan City Nursing Association Chairperson Hwang Ji-won, and congratulatory videos from first- and second-year nursing students.
The ceremony honored Nightingale's noble spirit of sacrifice and included the reading of the Nightingale Oath, pledging to serve and dedicate themselves to the nation and society, reaffirming their mission as professional nurses.
The students also received medals symbolizing their successful completion of the four-year nursing curriculum and acquisition of excellent nursing competencies.
Kim Soon-hee, head of the nursing department, said, "After completing clinical practice and before becoming new nurses, the students strengthened their sense of duty as prospective healthcare professionals," adding, "It was a time to reflect on the sense of mission and pride in the nursing profession."
The Department of Nursing at Dong-Eui Science University has obtained a 5-year accreditation in the third cycle of nursing education certification conducted by the Korea Accreditation Board of Nursing Education, based on a systematic educational environment and practice-oriented education. It was also selected as an excellent case institution for education in the '2019 Nursing College Practice Education Support Project' hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
