[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] The Small and Medium Business Technology Information Promotion Agency (TIPA) is supporting the recruitment of technical talent for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) participating in government-supported research and development (R&D) and smart factory projects.

TIPA opened the 'Technical Talent Recruitment Center' again this year to alleviate the job mismatch problem where young people face difficulties finding employment while small and medium venture companies suffer from a shortage of skilled technical personnel.

The Technical Talent Recruitment Center has been continuously operated every year since 2019 in connection with the Saramin recruitment system. As of September, 1,002 SMEs have participated and received benefits such as free registration of job postings. Despite difficulties caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, last year, TIPA supported the recruitment of 1,197 technical talents, and this year, it has supported the hiring of 685 talents, showing steady results.

SMEs that join and register in the Technical Talent Recruitment Center can have their job postings for technical talent continuously exposed on the Saramin homepage's main screen under 'Technical Talent Recruitment Center' and can register an unlimited number of job postings free of charge.

Starting this year, TIPA plans to provide free access to 'MUST,' a paid service that uses artificial intelligence to screen the suitability of applicants. Additionally, the 'Talent Pool' service, which recommends suitable candidates from the entire pool of job seekers even if the company does not receive desired applications, will be expanded and supported.

Park Eung-min, CEO of ATEC AP, who used the recruitment center since last September and hired 20 technical talents, said, "The Technical Talent Recruitment Center provided an opportunity to promote our company to many job seekers, and it was a great help to hire the technical talents we wanted. Especially, being able to register job postings without limitation and free of charge, which was previously a paid service, significantly reduced recruitment costs."

Lee Jae-hong, Director of TIPA, stated, "The job mismatch problem in SMEs is one of the factors that lowers the competitiveness of Korean SMEs. We plan to continuously expand and operate the online recruitment center to help R&D-performing companies with their talent recruitment, even if only a little."

The Technical Talent Recruitment Center has been operating since the 8th of this month and is targeted at SMEs engaged in R&D support projects and smart factory support projects. Currently, participating companies are being recruited, and recruitment will continue on an ongoing basis until July 2022. SMEs wishing to register in the Technical Talent Recruitment Center can check detailed information through the Small and Medium Business Technology Development Project Integrated Management System homepage.
